Add a Google Group address as “Send mail as” in Gmail
print icon

Add the Group address in Gmail as an alias

  1. Open Gmail (web).

  2. Click the gear iconSee all settings.

  3. Open Accounts.

  4. Under Send mail as, click Add another email address.

  5. Enter:

    • Name: (your display name or team name)

    • Email address: the Google Group email (e.g., [email protected])

  6. Keep Treat as an alias checked (recommended for Groups).

  7. Click Next Step.

  8. Click Send Verification.

  9. Open the verification email sent to the Group:

    • either in Google Groups (Conversations)

    • or in your inbox (if you receive Group emails)

  10. Click the confirmation link (or copy/paste the code back into Gmail, if prompted).

Once confirmed, you’ll be able to select the Group address in the From dropdown when composing a message.

Outlook doesn’t automatically pick up this “Send as” configuration. So when using Outlook, you’ll need to manually enter the mailbox name and Google Group address in the From field each time you send an email (for example Support Mailbox <[email protected]>).
